The Big Banana Fun Park Coffs Harbour
An all-time childhood favourite having been located in Coffs since 1964 I swear I've visited 100 times plus since the 80's
After battling chronic illnesses most of my life I became reliant upon the use of a wheelchair in late 2022 at the age of 43. Having worked in the disability industry most of my life I was initially positive about re-entering the world as I truly believed if somewhere was 'accessible' then that meant I would be able to access it independently. Boy was I wrong.....after many failed attempts, tears, frustration, anger (and more tears) my passion for travel and photography won - and I'm now determined to find places that I can access, and more importantly enjoy. I hope through sharing my adventures I inspire others to get out and about and enjoy. I also hope they provide insights to make your visits to those places even more enjoyable. Planning is key to enjoying life with any kind of illness or disability.
Wheelie Accessible Travel is my way of documenting my adventures in a way that help others to adventure more.
As my idol Anthony Bourdain once said; " Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life — and travel — leaves marks on you.” “It seems that the more places I see and experience, the bigger I realize the world to be."
As travel changes you, your ability to travel should not be limited due to your mobility or health. Through my explorations I hope to also discover ideas that can be shared, in order to one day make the entire world accessible to all.
